Our area is often referred to as the ‘Twin River’ area by local residents because of the Salmon River in our backyard, and the nearby Snake River in Hells Canyon, which can be accessed by a 45 minute drive directly from White Bird. Hells Canyon is North America’s deepest gorge, and the entire wilderness area – Hells Canyon National Recreation Area - encompasses a vast and remote region carved by the Snake River. There are no roads across Hells Canyon's 10-mile wide expanse, and only three roads that lead to the Snake River between Hells Canyon Dam and the Oregon-Washington boundary, and one of those roads is from White Bird, Idaho. Hiking adventures, ATV or 4-wheel rides, wildlife viewing and plenty of fishing from all points west, north, east and south of White Bird, Idaho.
